The Airco DH.6 was a British biplane training aircraft. The drive was provided by a single RAF 1a V-engine with 90 HP. The prototype flight took place in 1916. Approximately 2,300 examples of this successful aircraft were produced in the course of serial production.
Airco DH.6 from the very beginning was designed as a training plane for British pilots fighting mainly on the Western Front. In the design work on this aircraft, the focus was primarily on reducing production costs to the maximum and facilitating the ground handling of all types of overhauls of the machine. Efforts were also made to obtain the highest possible level of flight safety for both the instructor and the student pilot. Airco DH.6 began to enter the equipment of aviation schools in early 1917. In the course of operation, it largely confirmed the assumptions made during the design works. In the period 1917-1918, the Airco DH.6 was also used as a submarine search machine, but due to its low payload, it did not perform well in this role. The machine, apart from the British Air Force, also served in Australia, Greece and Spain.
